Lighting retrofits have a reputation problem, and it is earned. These are the practices that separate a project that performs from one that just gets installed.
Show the math, including the assumptions
Every proposal states the wattages, run hours, and utility rate it depends on. If we assumed your warehouse runs 70 hours a week and it actually runs 50, you should be able to see that and correct it — not discover it a year later when the savings do not land.
Reduce fixture count where the numbers allow it
Replacing one-for-one is the easy sale and usually the wrong design. Legacy layouts were built around dimmer, less directional sources. When photometrics support fewer fixtures, we specify fewer — even though it lowers the project value.
Own the rebate, do not just mention it
Incentive programs have pre-approval requirements and deadlines that quietly disqualify projects already underway. We file before work begins and follow the application through to payment, because a rebate described in a proposal and a rebate deposited are different things.
Be there after the install
A retrofit is a ten-year asset. We register the warranties, handle the claims, and verify annually that the system still performs to the model. The relationship should not end when the last lift leaves the lot.
